Accounts Program

What is an Account?

recycling dollars

The Accounts Program was created so that people can use recycling as a convenient way of raising money. When recyclables are sold at the Buyback, normally a check is issued at the time of sale. However, if you have an account, you don’t take a check at the time of sale and your sales will build up over the course of a month. Then a single check will be issued for the full month and sent to the account representative for your group. That way, several different people may contribute to an account by taking their recyclables to Berkeley Recycling.

Who can open an account?

Anyone can open an account: an individual, a group. Create an account for yourself, a school class, an organization, a troop, or special activity...whatever you want!

How do I open an account?

It’s simple! Download the Accounts Application Form and fill in the appropriate information for the individual or group of your choice. Then hand deliver, e-mail, fax or mail your completed form to:

Accounts Program
669 Gilman Street
Berkeley, CA 94710

e-mail: michelle@berkeleyrecycling.org
(The SEND button on the form will automatically attach your completed form to an e-mail and send it to the correct e-mail address.)

Then what?

Tell all your family, friends, and members of your group to take their recyclables—bottles, cans, newspaper and more —— to the Buyback at Second and Gilman Streets in Berkeley anytime between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.

Be sure to tell them the exact name of your account so the paymaster credits material sales to your account.

Ask for copies of our “Price and Information Sheet” to distribute to people who you believe will support your account by donating their recyclables’ payments to you. Click Buyback to learn about current prices paid for materials purchased at the Buyback.
